Lauren Curtis, AKA @lozcutris, Shares Her Steps to Get Her Famous Lashes

Image Description: Lauren is showing off her long, bold lashes in two screen grabs from her Instagram content. In one photo, she's holding a pink tube of mascara with a white cap that says "Lounge Face Lash", a tubing mascara that gives striking volume. Lounge Face is Lauren's own brand.

Lauren’s Lashes Have Over 6 Million Views on Just One YouTube Video.

If you’ve loved makeup since your teens, you know how formative Lauren, aka @lozcurtis, is to the beauty community in Australia.

Sharing her journey with makeup and her life with us candidly since the early 2000s, for many of us beauty obsessed adults, Lauren’s lashes changed our brain chemistry.

Lauren shares “I created my YouTube channel in 2011 when I was just 18. Now, 13 years later, it's amazing to look back and reflect on everything that I faced during that time.”

“We grew up together. We shared our knowledge with one another; our favourite products, advice, goals and aspirations.” She reflects on her Lounge Face site.

That Viral Lash Video

Lauren’s approach to mascara application technique has evolved since her 2011 video “HOW TO GET MASSIVE LASHES”, but having amounted close to 6 million views on YouTube, it’s clear that there is a consensus across the decade: We want big lashes.

Lauren heard us, and Loungeface was born. Who better to formulate a mascara than a beauty expert with over a decade worth of experience?

“Loungeface was created out of a desire to make high-quality, reliable makeup products that could take you through whatever stage of life you were going through. The highs and the lows…

Not only did I want to make sure the formulas were tried and tested (after trialling thousands of makeup products over the years, I know what works!), but I also got your feedback before every single product was created.

I want you to feel like this brand is catered to you, because it is.” Lauren shares candidly.

The 2024 Approved Steps to Show Stopping Lashes

Step 1: Curl the lashes

Lauren starts by curling the root, middle, and tips of her lashes, taking her time to get a good lift across all sections. Curling lashes is an important prep step, and the longer you’re able to take, the better! Be firm but gentle.

Step 2: Apply mascara to the roots

Next, she grabs her Lounge Face Lash Mascara (a tubing formula) and zigzags the wand at the roots of her lashes. This little trick adds extra thickness right at the base.

Step 3: Coat the back of the lashes

Before moving on, Lauren likes to add a bit of mascara to the back of her lashes. She does this early on so she doesn’t accidentally flatten the curl she just created with the eyelash curler.

Step 4: Focus on inner, middle, and outer lashes

When applying mascara, Lauren angles the wand towards her nose for the inner lashes, towards her ear for the outer lashes, and pulls straight up toward her eyebrow for the middle. This technique helps lift and lengthen them evenly.

Step 5: Separate any clumped lashes

The wand naturally helps separate lashes, but if any stick together, Lauren uses needle nose tweezers to gently pull them apart while the formula isn’t fully dried yet.

Step 6: Apply mascara to the lower lashes

For her lower lashes, she uses a zigzag motion, focusing more product on the outer corners where the lashes are finer, so they match the inner corner's thickness.

Step 7: Tidy up with tweezers

Lastly, she goes back with tweezers to carefully separate any lashes that have stuck together, especially on the lower lash line. Lauren uses needle nose tweezers for precision.
