“Single Use” Makeup Wipes That Are Better For Your Skin & The Environment

My Review of The Conserving Beauty InstaMelt™ Day Dissolver Wipes on Sensitive, Acne-Prone Skin

Image: Side by side images of me holding an individual wipe in it’s plastic-free packaging, and holding the wipe after using it to remove half of my makeup.

I’m a simple gal.

I hear about a brand claiming to be blemish friendly, it’s STEM woman founded, and Aussie born?

Of course I’m doing a review. The kind with lots of helpful pictures, too.

I’ve had the pleasure of using these wipes a handful of times, and I’ve collected my thoughts. Let’s hop in!

A Blurb About Conserving Beauty

Conserving Beauty is a waterless skincare brand reimagining what beauty can be, without compromising on results.

The mission?

To reduce water, carbon, and waste through constant innovation and evidence-based formulations.

Every product is designed with intention, using ingredients at scientifically backed concentrations.

Founded by Natassia Nicolao Grace, an Australian-born STEM graduate with Greek and Italian roots, Conserving Beauty was built on a decade of experience in product development, supply chain, and ethical sourcing.

Natassia’s clear, science-led mission quickly caught the attention of retailers like MECCA and Priceline, and the rest is history.

Makeup Wipes Have a Bad Wrap- Are The Day Dissolver Wipes Different?

Have you been radicalised by Susan Yara on makeup wipes?

You’re not alone.

The usual wipe-related criticism did make me lag on trying the Dissolver Wipes, which I regret.

After watching Praise Fadzai’s review, and the wipes effortlessly wiping away her colourful, dramatic makeup look- my interest was piqued.

The usual concerns surround irritating sensitive skin, smearing around makeup, and not actually removing gunk from the day are sometimes valid.

Sensitive skin?

After some thoughtful Googling, I found out that the Day Dissolver Wipes have been formulated with people with acne, dermatitis, and eczema in mind, going so far to have extensive third-party testing.

Unhygienic?

A huge pro of the individual packages is stopping the spread of bacteria in the bathroom from the usual reused hang towel some wipe off their makeup with.

Water Free? But I’m Acne-Prone!

Doing a deep dive on the oils and gentle cleansing lipids in the formula, the blend contains acne-prone approved favourites like Hemp Seed Oil, Olive Squalane, Sunflower Seed Oil, and Jojoba Oil.

I also felt this awareness was reflected in a real way in their marketing and brand photography.

Acne-prone skin is rarely one spot on the skin, and it’s nice to see a brand that understands that.

My Acne-Prone Review of The Day Dissolver Wipes From Conserving Beauty

The wipes come in seperate, plastic-free pouches.

They easily tare open and are completely recyclable.

The wipes are generously soaked with the oil blend.

They feel different from your usual makeup wipes, but not in a bad way.
The wipes glide easily over the face, and leave behind a noticeable glow on the skin.

For the eye area, I held the wipe over my eye makeup for about 5 seconds.

Even though my mascara was tubing (meaning it needs warm water to typically be removed), the oil blend broke down both the tubing mascara, and my waterproof eyeliner.

Half the face with makeup removed.

You can see the makeup being lifted off onto the wipe, and the rolls of my tubing mascara on my eye area that was removed.

The wipe hadn’t broken down or lost any structure.

Full face clean.

Lots of glow, my skin felt very soft.

Time to emulsify and get ready for a second cleanse.

The oils on the skin did turn milky for a emulsification step.

You could go straight in with a water based foaming cleanser, but I was curious to see if this worked as a classic first cleanse too.

You can see the milkiness of the emulsification bead on my chin.

Rinsed off clean, perfect to go in with a cleanser.

Does it really dissolve?

Oh yep. Completely.

You can see the wipes start to disintegrate in the top of this image, along with the bits of makeup, mascara, and a rouge eyelash.

What’s Avaliable?
