My Top Sephora Sale Picks Tried And Tested: Makeup For Light-Olive Skin, New Fragrances, And Skincare

My Top Sephora Sale Picks Tried And Tested: Makeup For Light-Olive Skin, New Fragrances, And Skincare

These are my Sephora Spring 20% off sale picks and you’ve been warned — there are a lot.

I’m going to focus this write-up on what I think is appropriate for the weather we’re walking into. I’m looking for seamless makeup products that don’t melt off your skin but aren’t boring old-tech powders.

I’m looking for products that are flexible, so I can sheer them out or wear them with vibrant impact, and I’m looking for fragrances that suit that sticky warmer weather that’s shortly waiting for us.

A non negotiable? Skincare that suits my forever temperamental skin.

Let’s start off strong with makeup.

Makeup by Mario Soft Pop Plumping Blush Veil in “Rose Crush”, $69.00

Shop: Makeup by Mario Soft Pop Plumping Blush Veil in “Rose Crush”, $69.00

Made viral by Sabrina Carpenter, this is the perfect rosy brown on my light olive skin tone. It seamlessly melts into whatever layer you’re putting it over and looks just as good over a foundation as it does a skin tint, or on bare skin.

I’ve worn this one when I’m just wearing concealer, and I’ve worn this with full glam — it doesn’t let me down.

Patrick Ta Crème Contour & Powder Bronzer Duo in “She’s Statuesque”, $76.00

Shop: Patrick Ta Crème Contour & Powder Bronzer Duo in “She’s Statuesque”, $76.00

This is a fantastic slightly cool-toned contour bronzer on me. This works so well for my olive undertone and is extremely forgiving.

It will never go patchy, and I’ve hit pan on both textures because I use them both interchangeably.

The powder side is also wonderful as an eyeshadow and it’s my go-to nose contour currently.

Natasha Denona My Mini Dream Palette, $48.00

Shop: Natasha Denona My Mini Dream Palette, $48.00

The mattes aren’t overly creamy and buttery where they blend into nothing (which I hate). They stay where you put them, but you can move them around and blend them without getting patchy.

The shimmers are fantastic — what they look like in the pan is pretty similar to how they look on the eyelid. There’s bold pigment, but the shimmer moves with the movement of your eye and glimmers effortlessly.

You can’t go wrong with any of her eyeshadows, so I would say start off with a mini palette (rather than the larger ones available) and choose a colour story that works for your skin tone and what you’re going for.

Sephora Collection Colorful Blush in “06 Flirt It Up”, $28.00

Shop: Sephora Collection Colorful Blush in “06 Flirt It Up”, $28.00

It’s a matte formula, but it has never gone patchy on me. This one went viral by Kylie Jenner, and all I’m saying is — I totally get it.

Call me basic for going after the celebrity picks, but there’s a reason why the top makeup artists in the world use them.

Huda Beauty Easy Bake Loose Setting Powder in “Cherry Blossom Cake”, $70.00

Shop: Huda Beauty Easy Bake Loose Setting Powder in “Cherry Blossom Cake”, $70.00

It’s a loose powder and I wasn’t expecting to like this, but in more recent days, I’ve really been appreciating using a colour corrector under my eyes to counteract some of the darkness I’m experiencing there.

When I’m setting the colour correctors and the concealers, putting on the Cherry Blossom really helps bring brightness back to that area and helps that area blend seamlessly into my blush.

It also really goes with some of these more blue-based, bright pinks that I like wearing. It’s all very fun, and yes, it does feel nice to put on pink powder under your eyes.

Huda Beauty Lip Contour 2.0 Liners, $41.00

Alt text: Nude lip contour pen with a twist-open cap, perfect for defining lips easily.

Shop: Huda Beauty Lip Contour 2.0 Liners, $41.00

They are twist-up, and I think that is fantastic because when I’m running late, they’re what I reach for. All my other ones are blunt at the moment.

My favourite shade is Terracotta — it’s a bit of a warm red-brown.

But honourable mention to Pinky Brown as well. They have a nude for every skin tone, and I think they’ve really nailed that.

Make Up For Ever Artist Color Pencil in “Anywhere Caffeine”, $57.00

Shop: Make Up For Ever Artist Color Pencil in “Anywhere Caffeine”, $57.00

Continuing on with makeup, the Artist Color Pencil from Make Up For Ever in Anywhere Caffeine has been a super surprising love.

I’ll link my try-on below, but I wasn’t expecting to like it because I did think it was going to be a very sheer product, like a lot of Make Up For Ever’s skin-first approach products are.

I’m so glad to be wrong. It is beautiful, and if you really like that stick format, then this might be a new favourite for you.

Pixi Skintreats Antioxidant Tonic, $29.00

Shop: Pixi Skintreats Antioxidant Tonic, $29.00

Back in my rotation is the Pixi Antioxidant Tonic. It is high in non–vitamin C antioxidants and also has niacinamide, panthenol, and ceramides. There’s even fermented ingredients and probiotics.

It’s such a lovely, juicy blend, so it’s not a watery texture by any means, and this could honestly replace someone’s serum. The 100ml bottle is huge, I feel like I’ll never get through it, and it’s a great pick.

OLEHENRIKSEN Pout Preserve Peptide Lip Treatment in “Citrus”, $30.00

Shop: OLEHENRIKSEN Pout Preserve Peptide Lip Treatment in “Citrus”, $30.00

I’m using the Citrus flavour/scent and it’s very orangey creamsicle coded. It is very, very yummy. I look forward to using it and it’s very easy to use.

It’s a bit more clingy than other lip products I’ve tried, so I wouldn’t say there’s absolutely zero stick, but it’s not an annoying amount of stick — it’s very comfortable on the lips.

The grippiness that it does have means that it lasts a lot longer, and I’m reapplying a lot less. The shine is also very high.

Biossance Squalane + 5% Niacinamide Brightening Eye Serum, $75.00

Shop: Biossance Squalane + 5% Niacinamide Brightening Eye Serum, $75.00

It has a cooling eye tip that completely moves with your eye contours, so you don’t need to worry about any pinching or snagging.

The 5% niacinamide does help brighten under the eye if pigmentation’s your issue, but oftentimes the pigment under the eye is actually a shadow — that’s where the slight shimmer comes in, which physically brightens the appearance immediately.

It’s a lovely product to use and the cooling, plus the caffeine, is a great combo.

Airyday Night Rain Sleep Mask, $41.00

Shop: Airyday Night Rain Sleep Mask, $41.00

I used this a little while ago, and I really enjoyed it. Before I knew it, I ended up giving it to a friend who was in desperate need of a reliable nighttime moisturiser.

This is a fantastic pick if you want peptides in your routine, and I think this is a great example of a moisturiser that’s one-and-done for nighttime. It works long-term but also immediately gives you that hydration.

Rare Beauty Rare Eau de Parfum, $124.00

Shop: Rare Beauty Rare Eau de Parfum, $124.00

Rare Beauty’s Rare Fragrance is a tasty gourmand that isn’t sickly sweet and has quite a lot of depth. I’ve never been one to describe fragrances fantastically, so I’ve made sure to do a full write-up on the scent notes.

I can’t recommend their layering balms enough because the texture is weightless once you rub them in.

Here’s the current Fragrance Layering Balm Scents;

They’re non-tacky, non-sticky — they almost feel like a silicone primer, but when you rub them in, they completely disappear (texture wise), and leave behind a gorgeous scent. They can be layered with any other fragrance.

Maison Louis Marie Fleur De Vanille Hair and Body Mist, $51.00

Shop: Maison Louis Marie Fleur De Vanille Hair and Body Mist, $51.00

I’ve also been loving the Maison Louis Marie Fleur de Vanille. It’s a hair and body mist that isn’t drying or has any drying alcohols in it, so it’s not going to make your hair feel brittle.

It’s extremely fresh, and I got a lot of compliments during my trip to Melbourne. I think it’s a yummy vanilla + raspberry soft scent, but the official description i’ll pop below.

Described as: Warm, sophisticated vanilla scent with notes of raspberry, cane sugar, and vanilla blossom, blended with a subtle cashmere musk base.

Maison Louis Marie No. 14 Icila Eau De Parfum, $162.00

Shop: Maison Louis Marie No. 14 Icila Eau De Parfum, $162.00

I’ve also loved the Maison Louis Marie No.04 No. 14 Icila Eau De Parfum, which is very yummy and has a complementary scent profile to the hair and body mist mentioned above.

The fragrance family;

  • Top Note: Ruby Pamplemousse, Mandarin Leaf, Jasmine.
  • Mid note: Bulgarian Rose, Dark Plum, Osmanthus.
  • Base Note: Patchouli, Vanilla Flower, Sakura Blossom
