What Skincare Actor Ana Thu Nguyen Brought While Filming Mortal Kombat II

With back-to-back premieres, long days filming Mortal Kombat II and Primitive War, and squeezing in time for other emerging projects, Ana Thu Nguyen’s schedule is beyond hectic.

Yet, her skin always manages to stay radiant.

How does she keep it glowing amidst all the travel, heavy makeup, and emotional scenes?

We had a chat with her to uncover her beauty secrets.

Ana’s skincare routine isn’t just about products—it’s about balance, self-care, and creating a ritual that keeps her grounded, even during the chaos of filming.

After hours in front of the camera, wearing layers of makeup, and performing intense emotional scenes, Ana has a simple but effective routine to unwind.

“I always go for a bath, add some candlelight, and play soft solfeggio frequencies to help me relax,” she says.

“It’s the perfect way to let go of any tension, especially if I’ve just shot an emotional scene.”

Ana swears by these frequencies for calming her mind and body.

If you’ve never heard of solfeggio frequencies, they’re special sound tones believed to reduce stress and promote healing—talk about a vibe reset.

Combine that with a warm bath, and you’re set to wash away the day, literally and figuratively.

After her bath, Ana takes time to centre herself for the next day’s work.

“I run through my lines, but then I like to shake it off with some yoga and meditation before bed,” she says.

It’s all about setting the right mood, and for Ana, that includes lighting her favourite candles.

“I’m obsessed with my Dusk Cherry Blossom & Musk Osaka scented candle.

I’ve recently returned from Japan and it instantly brings me a sense of nostalgia.”

Travelling from set to set can be rough on anyone’s skin, but Ana has her travel skincare kit down to a science. So what are her absolute must-haves?

“I never go without my travel-sized Supple Preparation Toner from Klairs, Paula’s Choice BHA Liquid Exfoliant, Rejuvaus ABC serum, and Madagascar Centella sunscreen,” she shares.

Let’s break down why these products are Ana’s ride-or-die favourites:

  1. KLAIRS Supple Preparation Unscented Toner 30ml $6.90 from Nudieglow This gentle toner is a hydration hero. After a long day of makeup, it soothes and balances her skin—perfect for sensitive skin types.

  2. Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant Travel Size 30ml $18 from Sephora: Ana’s secret weapon for keeping her pores clear and complexion smooth. The salicylic acid works wonders, especially when dealing with all that on-set makeup.

  3. Rejuvaus Repair & Refine ABC Serum $220 on au.Rejuvas.com: This serum is a bit of an investment, but for Ana, it’s worth it. It brightens and repairs the skin, giving her that glow we all are aiming for.

  4. SKIN1004 - Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum SPF50 PA++++ - 50ml $14.40 from Stylevana: Sunscreen is non-negotiable for Ana, and this one hydrates while offering serious sun protection. It’s lightweight, so it’s perfect for daily wear, even under makeup.

  5. Peter Thomas Roth Pre-Treatment Exfoliating Cleanser $65 from Sephora: A deep, hard working exfoliating cleanser with a true lather. It promises to get off the entire day while leaving you feeling fresh and purified.

  6. Sukin Signature face scrub $14.95 from Priceline: Ana swears by Sukin, and loves the simple, budget friendly picks they offer with conscious ingredients.

We are obsessed that many of these picks come in travel sizes and are budget friendly!

DIY Skincare? This Shocked us!

Despite her love for high-quality products, Ana’s a fan of natural remedies too.

“At home, I often make my own honey and rice mask, which I swear by,” she tells us.

The mix is great for hydration and brightening.

While she hasn’t found the perfect pre-made alternative for travelling, she’s on the lookout for something just as effective.

Ask Ana what the key to her skincare routine is, and she’ll tell you without hesitation: cleansing.

“A proper cleansing routine is the best gift you can give your skin,” Ana insists.

“Especially with the heavy makeup we wear on set, you need to make sure you’re removing all of it.”

And Ana doesn’t rush through this step either.

She sees it as part of her self-care.

“I find the whole process of cleansing and applying skincare quite meditative, so I like to take my time with it.”

Quick fix!

When called into last minute castings, meetings or events, Ana shares she relies on OPI XPress/ons.

“They’re quick and easy, really reliable to have fresh looking nails. I go for anything neutral.

I especially love the Bubble Bath set.”

Skincare As Self-Care

Ana’s approach to skincare isn’t just about looking good on camera.

It’s about taking the time to nourish and care for her skin, even with her jam-packed schedule.

Whether it’s a bath after a long day, making her favourite DIY mask, or lighting a nostalgic candle, Ana’s skincare routine is all about balance.

It’s her way of staying grounded in a hectic world.

Her advice? Find products that work for you and make time for your skin, no matter how busy life gets.

That way, you’re always giving your skin the love it needs, whether you’re on set, travelling, or just going about your day.
