Naturium stands as one of the biggest beauty industry success stories of recent years, guided by the sharp vision of Susan Yara.
Now an inspirational and influential entrepreneur, Susan began her career in journalism before segueing into skincare as her focus through her YouTube channel, Mixed Makeup, which has over 1.4M subscribers.
Founded by Susan Yara
Beyond Susan’s enormous professional accomplishments, she’s also one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. She carries herself with vibrance and positivity, proof of how confidence truly can create a glow from within.
She knows everything there is to know about the beauty industry and travels the world connecting with skincare enthusiasts and experts alike.
Naturium is the result of a brand founder with an eye for skincare trends, someone who doesn’t need to wait for boardrooms or focus groups to make decisions.
Susan has lived in the middle of the digital beauty space and was there for the start and continued evolution of the social media landscape. Naturium feels like a culmination of everything skincare enthusiasts ask for across the world. But done in an approachable way where newbies can navigate the range easily too.
Naturium’s Approach to Skincare
To me, Naturium is affordable luxury. It’s a brand that uses ingredient technologies that you’d find in much more premium products. Think gold used to stabilise vitamin C, or utilising encapsulation techniques that prevent ingredient clashing or layering issues. And this is all done at an approachable price point.
Things don’t stop at the face. Naturium has excelled in the body care category too. Applying the same level of skincare science to create products with efficacy and textural variety.
Now, Sephora Australia and New Zealand have entered the chat, and will surely propel Naturium’s reach even further. I’m confident Nati (nah-tee), as I like to call the brand, will become one of the most loved skincare brands at Sephora.
But, the question is, how do you choose where to start? This is my list of must-try Naturium products from the first round of launches at Sephora. With more favourites sure to arrive soon.
1. Multi-Peptide Advanced Serum, $47.00
This is my favourite product in the entire Naturium range, as it combines a newer generation anti-aging peptide, Argireline Amplified, with encapsulated copper peptides for comprehensive skin rejuvenation.
It’s further boosted with advanced antioxidants, creating a serum that not only helps improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles over time but also actively protects and preserves your skin right now. The texture is milky, silky, and incredibly smoothing, and it sits perfectly under sunscreen for an advanced morning routine.
2. Vitamin C Complex Serum, $39.00
This is a Vitamin C serum for anyone who usually hates Vitamin C. It has a light, fluid-gel texture, doesn’t smell weird, and is much more stable.
It combines an advanced gold-stabilised form of Vitamin C alongside a well-known Vitamin C derivative, along with a variety of native Australian plant extracts. Thanks to its formulation techniques, this serum uses a higher pH than most, making it feel exceptionally more gentle on the skin, with no burn or tingle.
3. Retinaldehyde Cream Serum, $60.00
Easily one of the best non-prescription retinoid options on the market, not just within Naturium’s range, but across all brands. This uses a specialised sustained-release technology to stabilise and deliver retinaldehyde in a way that’s gentler on the skin.
The serum comes in two strengths, 0.05% and 0.10%, so start with the lower percentage if you’re new to retinoids. Or head straight to 0.10% if you’re a seasoned user.
4. The Power of Peptides Set, $38.00
This kit is perfect for anyone looking for anti-aging products in a simple, easy-to-follow routine. Multi-Peptide Moisturizer combines some of the most well-known peptides to help reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles with an encapsulated Vitamin C derivative.
It’s a mid-weight, effortless moisturiser with a buttery yet light texture and broad appeal which could also act as serum-in-cream for a simplified routine. Plus, this kit also contains the aforementioned Multi-Peptide Advanced Serum, both in smaller deluxe trial/travel sizes.
5. The Icons Serum Starter Kit, $38.00
A great way to try three of Naturium’s headline serums: Vitamin C Complex, Niacinamide 12% Plus Zinc 2%, and Retinol Complex Serum.
This kit offers a solid assortment of Naturium’s core range while covering the essentials for a well-rounded skincare routine.
The included retinol serum is particularly gentle, making this kit an excellent introduction for most people.
6. Barrier Bounce Serum, $45.00
Ceramides, squalane, and urea come together in an especially nourishing, oil-rich serum. If you have chronically dry skin and feel like you can never get enough moisture, this is a great option to try.
It has a richer, oilier texture that leaves a dewy sheen not typically seen with most serums. If you generally enjoy incorporating face oils into your routine, you’ll likely love applying this too.
7. The Glow Getter Multi-Oil Body Wash, $32.00
The flagship body wash that kicked off Naturium’s foray into body products. Although this isn’t my personal top favourite option, everyone should try it at least once.
The texture is quite unique and the glycerin-rich highly hydrating texture transforms from a fluid oil consistency into a satisfying, creamy lather. Everyone seems to have their own opinion on what this smells like, so you’ll have to find me on Instagram and share yours!
8. The Energizer Mandelic Acid Body Wash, $32.00
Now this one is my personal favourite, a zingy, cooling body wash with a menthol-like sensation that’s especially great for warmer months or if you prefer an uplifting, clean-feeling shower experience.
It creates a very satisfying lather and has a subtle, citrus-leaning scent.
Naturium doesn’t use strong fragrance components, so don’t expect a super pronounced aromatic experience.
9. Skin-Renewing Retinol Body Lotion, $49.00
We don’t often see retinol appear in body products, so seeing it here in an encapsulated form makes this body lotion particularly unique.
It’s moisturising without feeling tacky, glides on easily, and strikes a good balance between richness and how fast-absorbing it is. I can easily see this becoming a staple for many people.
10. Phyto-Glow Lip Mask, $24.00
One of my fave overnight lip masks, it has a balmy, buttery texture crossed with a subtle gel-like component too.
I find it more effective than most lip masks, including some of the very popular ones. The scent is subtly vanillic, and it clings well to the lips, so it doesn’t entirely disappear onto your pillow overnight.
Final Thoughts
I placed my very first Naturium order on January 4th, 2021, back when it was a baby brand that few people were talking about.
Seeing it now finally available in Australia, where I can interact with it on shelves, has been a real treat. I sincerely hope everyone reading this finds an affordable favourite of their own.
