Booking a professional skin consultation can feel intimidating – especially when there’s pressure to buy at the end. That’s exactly why this Ultraceuticals free skin consultation review surprised me.
I booked a complimentary online consultation with Ultraceuticals, fully expecting a soft sell. Instead, I found a genuinely helpful, no-obligation experience that focused on understanding my skin, my existing routine and my budget – without locking me into purchasing anything.
Below is exactly how the consultation worked, what was recommended, and what I actually thought after testing the products.
The Ultraceuticals Free Consultation Process
The consultation itself is completely free and doesn’t require you to purchase anything from the range – which immediately sets the tone.
You book a one-on-one session with a skin expert who asks about:
- Your skin concerns
- What you’re currently using
- Your budget and preferences
From there, they recommend products suited to your skin type and explain how each step would fit into your existing routine – not replace it entirely.
What I appreciated most was how candid I could be. I openly shared which products from other brands I love and wasn’t willing to swap out. That allowed Ultraceuticals to slot in where I actually wanted to try something new, rather than overhauling my routine for the sake of it.
I was paired with Miriam, who was knowledgeable, approachable and genuinely educational throughout the process. She also scheduled optional follow-up consultations to track progress – something I didn’t end up needing, but appreciated having available.
Ultra Balancing Gel Cleanser, $69.00
This was my standout product from the entire consultation – and it’s now a firm favourite.
The Ultra Balancing Gel Cleanser offers thorough cleansing without following the typical clear-gel format. Instead, it has a creamy gel consistency that feels comfortable and non-stripping on the skin.
Key ingredients include aloe vera, glycerin, panthenol, cucumber extract and oat kernel extract. A very small amount goes a long way, which makes it excellent value for money.
The skin feels calm, relaxed and properly clean after use. I emptied a full 200ml bottle and immediately repurchased a backup – it left that much of an impression. It’s also earned a spot in my annual round-ups.
Ultra B2 Hydrating Serum, $129.00
Often referred to as the “B-squared” serum, this formula combines Vitamin B3 (niacinamide) and Vitamin B5.
It contains a generous amount of sodium hyaluronate, delivering noticeable plumping without feeling sticky or heavy on the skin. The formulation is simple, elegant and very high quality.
It’s easy to see why this serum has such a loyal following, particularly among those who prefer reliability and consistency within cosmeceutical skincare.
That said, this recommendation does sit outside my usual price point for niacinamide-focused serums – so it’s one I’d suggest if you’re already comfortable investing in professional-grade skincare.
Ultra Hydrating Lotion, $99.00
I tested this moisturiser for two weeks before passing it on to someone with a slightly oilier skin type than mine.
The texture was pleasant, and I didn’t experience any breakouts during use. Ingredients include aloe vera, ceramide-3, linoleic and linolenic acids, cholesterol, Vitamin E and a natural moisturising factor (NMF) blend featuring sodium PCA, urea and sodium hyaluronate.
While the ingredient list is impressive, I personally found it a little too lightweight for the richer moisturisers I tend to gravitate towards. The benefits of the ceramide blend would likely be more noticeable with longer-term use.
That said, this would be an excellent option for oily or combination skin. Although it wasn’t my personal match, it doesn’t detract from the quality of the formula at all.
Ultra UV Protective Daily Moisturiser SPF50 Mattifying, $99.00
This SPF is designed specifically for normal to oily skin types and focuses on a mattifying finish.
It uses silica to absorb excess sebum, alongside microspheres that scatter and diffuse light to reduce shine. The texture is lightweight and fast-absorbing, making it comfortable for daily wear.
Despite its mattifying focus, the formula still includes moisturising ingredients such as shea butter, sodium hyaluronate, glycerin, Vitamin E, panthenol (Vitamin B5) and niacinamide (Vitamin B3) to support the skin barrier.
A coworker summed it up best: “It’s the first SPF I’ve enjoyed using.” They also mentioned it wears beautifully under makeup and has a subtle, key lime pie–like scent. It currently holds a five-star rating online.
What This Ultraceuticals Consultation Taught Me
Overall, the Ultraceuticals free consultation left a genuinely positive impression.
The products are well-formulated, thoughtfully designed and clearly backed by research. More importantly, the brand’s community-focused approach – prioritising education and personalised recommendations – feels refreshingly transparent.
I walked away with a new holy grail cleanser and a much stronger understanding of how Ultraceuticals products can integrate into an existing routine, rather than replace it entirely.
